Earlier this term we launched a new house event, house volunteering, and it has been really pleasing to see a large number of students heading out to support the local (and wider) community.

In total 141 students took part, with the vast majority completing at least 5 hours or 5 different activities. Any student that completed a voluntary activity earned a point for their house and anyone who went on to do the full 5 hours earned a bonus point.

There was such a wide range of voluntary activities, from litter picking to a food bank collection for a zoo, from helping siblings with homework to delivering shopping to elderly neighbours. It was impressive and really heartwarming to read the students’ diaries of what they did, how it impacted the community and their experiences in doing so.
