At Richard Hale School we expect students to attend every day. There is a clear link between attendance at school and achievement and by working together we can ensure that your child achieves the best possible outcomes and experience.
We monitor attendance very closely. Our attendance processes and thresholds can be found in the attendance policy.
We do understand that occasionally a student may not be able to attend school due to illness. If this is the case the following procedure must be followed.
Absence from School
If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please follow the following guidance.
Parents should ring the school office on the first day of absence and inform us of the reason for the absence.
When your child returns to school parents must inform us in writing of the reasons why the child has been ill. Please email Mrs Marshall, the school attendance officer at email@example.com so that this can be recorded appropriately.
If further information is required, we will request this from you. If students are repeatedly absent through illness we will follow the attendance policy and work with you to address this so that your child attends school regularly.
If your child has any of the symptoms of COVID-19, please follow the guidance outlined by the Government on https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus.
Leave from School
We only authorise leave from school in exceptional circumstances. A parent wishing to take a student out of school for any reason must apply in writing to the Headteacher, stating the purpose of the absence and the duration of it. The request will be responded to in writing.
Holidays in Term Time
We do not authorise any holidays in term time.
