On Thursday 20th March, students took to the stage for the highly anticipated House Music competition, an evening filled with talent, creativity, and teamwork. Each house delivered a set of three performances—a Junior solo, Senior solo, and ensemble piece—introduced by their enthusiastic MCs. The event truly showcased the musical excellence and spirit of Richard Hale.

During the interval, the audience watched each of the recorded House Songs, performed by Year 7 and 8 students, played on the big screen. This heartwarming display of unity saw Wallace take home the House Song trophy, thanks to their enthusiasm and beautiful singing.

The competition also featured some incredible individual and group performances:

Junior Solo Winner – Oliver Desborough captivated the audience with an expressive and outstanding electric guitar performance of Van Halen’s Eruption
Senior Solo Winners (Draw) – Sam Mo delivered a stunning performance of Liszt’s Liebestraum on the piano, while George Kimberley impressed with a powerful and emotional vocal performance of The Music of the Night from ‘Phantom of the Opera’
Winning Ensemble – Wallace claimed another victory with a lively performance of Pink Pony Club, featuring students from multiple year groups—and even some dancing!

A special mention to Winning Master of Ceremonies (MC), William Heath, whose engaging and entertaining hosting kept the audience entertained, and Winning Musical Director, George Kimberley, who led his house with dedication and hard work, making an invaluable contribution to their success.

The evening was a true celebration of musical talent, teamwork, and passion. Our judge, Mrs Emma Cooper, Head of Music at Presdales, had the tough job of deciding the winners but praised the event for its fantastic atmosphere and exceptional performances.
