Who was Page?
Page is named after Lieutenant Colonel Francis Page. He was born in 1880 and attended this school. He died during a battle in the First World War in 1917. As his body was never found, his name is carved on the Menin Gate in Ypres. He was Mayor of Hertford in 1912 and was well respected in the local area. A House was named after him as a memorial not just to him but to all the Old Boys of the school who lost their lives in the Great War.
Mr Parker, Head of Page, says:
I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead Page house. Our house is rich in history and its roots are in remembrance to Francis Page and the Old Boys who lost their lives during the Great War. This is just one of the many unique features of Page house but one I feel is the most important.
Francis Page was respected, cared deeply about those around him, supported others and was often described as a hardworking, valiant and a successful leader in the most challenging of situations, a clear example for all to follow.
My goal is to provide the students of Page the opportunities to develop the traits that made Francis Page so respected within his community. As such, I expect all students to engage with the house system, get out of their comfort zones and experience new opportunities. Facing challenges head on with the support of their peers and accepting that even a loss is an opportunity to develop one’s self.
