Elective Home Education (EHE) is a term used to describe a choice by parents to provide education for their children at home or in some other way they desire, instead of sending them to school full-time. This is different to education provided by a local authority other than at a school, for example for children who are too ill to attend school.
If you would like any advice or guidance about EHE, please contact HCC’s EHE team here.
We would also like to make you aware of the following:
• There is no funding for EHE or funding towards exam fees
• No tutors, worksheets or workbooks will be provided by Hertfordshire County Council
• You will need to devise a full-time education programme which is suitable to your child’s needs
• You will need to provide satisfactory EHE provision from the outset
• A very substantial commitment of time and energy will be required to deliver home education properly
• If you decide that you want a school place again, you may not be offered a place at RHS or at your preference school if they are full
• HCC’s Elective Home Education team will make enquiries about the education you are providing and if it appears a suitable education is not in place, a referral will be made to Children Missing Education
Once we remove a child from roll, parents will need to go through the standard admission process to apply for a school place.
